Elacatinus inornatus Bussing, 1990

Inornate goby

Elongate; head rounded; upper lip connected to snout at front; a pore midway between front of the two eyes; 2 pores on preopercle; no teeth on roof of mouth; tongue with blunt tip; dorsal VII + I, 10 (rarely 9); anal rays I, 8-9; pectoral rays 18-20 (usually 21); pelvic fins fused in a disc; tail rounded; no scales.

Head orange-red or pinkish, with 3 white bars; an additional white bar at level of pectoral fin base; body translucent yellow with 5 broad, internal brown bars.

Size: to 3.3 cm.

Inhabits coral and rocky reefs.

Depth: 5-30 m.

Costa Rica to Colombia.
